The Czech Silicate Society
international activities
In 1994 the Czech Silicate Society organized the Session of Technical Commission ISO TC 33 – Refractory Materials in Prague. As a member of European Ceramic Society The Czech Silicate Society in cooperation with other national silicate societies, mainly with the German Ceramic Society and Slovak Silicate Society organize international Conferences. The Silicate Society supports participation of its members in international ceramic conferences (ECerS) and presentations (CERAMITEC) The Silicate Society, as apparent from present statements, does its best to fulfill its goals – to increase the technical level of the whole sector which was resolved by our predecessors years ago. The membership in the European Ceramic Society opened for our Society new occasion of professional activities within the framework of united Europe. The Czech Silicate Society will gladly welcome new members and stimulations in order to develop the field of silicate materials. |

The Czech Silicate Society
membership
Members are domestic and also foreign persons or corporations, Membership begins by submitting the application form. Members have the right to participe in all activites of the Society, mainly to work in professional groups and commissions. The Society provides to its members reduction of the cost of publications, fees of seminar and some conferences.
history of society
The Silicate Society of Czech Republic belongs to engineering societies with the oldest tradition. Its foreruner - Czechoslovak ceramic society was established in 1923 with ambition to broaden the current science and technological knowledge and to increase technical level of the whole sector. It actively performed its ambitions over its lifetime, except the war years 1942-1945. After these years it was re-established as Czechoslovak Silicate and Glass Society. and in 1950 as Silicate Society in the framework of the intergrated Czechoslovak Scientific and Technical Society. It renewed its activites as the independent Silicate Society of the Czech Republic (Its abbeveration is SiS). It was accepted as the member of European Ceramic Society (ECerS) in 1995.
staff structure of the society
The top authority is the Congress, which is declared by the commission of the Society every two years. The Congress elects the Board of the Society which controls its activities between Congresses.
